Legal AI company Harvey said on Oct. 29 that it has acquired Aida, a startup Harvey describes as an AI-native sales execution platform. Harvey didn’t disclose terms.

Aida is Harvey’s fifth acquisition this year, according to the announcement. The most recent before it were Guardrails AI in September and Benchmark in July.

Aida was founded by Piyush Prahladka, a co-founder of the workplace search company Glean, and Atish Das Sarma, who Harvey says previously led engineering, data science and growth teams at companies including Patreon and Apple. The two founders and their team of search and machine learning engineers will join Harvey’s product and engineering group.

Why a legal company wants a sales tool

Harvey isn’t buying Aida for its sales product. The company says the deal will speed up its work helping each law firm build its own ontology, which Harvey says gives “every agent, model, and product the organization uses” more context to work with.

An ontology, in this sense, is a structured map of an organization’s own knowledge, such as how its matters, clients and documents relate, that AI tools can draw on. Harvey says the Aida team’s search and machine learning skills fit that work.

“Legal teams have decades of valuable knowledge locked away in documents and systems that are difficult to search and connect,” Harvey CEO Winston Weinberg said in the announcement. He said Prahladka and Das Sarma “have deep expertise in solving this challenge.”

Prahladka said in the same release that the founders started Aida because they believed AI could “connect information across fragmented systems, and turn that knowledge into action.”

Harvey’s announcement puts the stakes in its own terms. “As context becomes an organization’s edge, firms that own theirs will stand apart,” the company wrote.

The buying spree

Harvey has been spending since its last raise.

On Sept. 9 it announced a $550 million round at a $15.5 billion valuation, co-led by Diffusion and Lightspeed Venture Partners, according to its own blog post. Reuters also reported the valuation. Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, Andreessen Horowitz and Coatue were among the existing investors that took part.

The same day, Harvey said it had bought San Francisco-based Guardrails AI, which built open-source tools that flag when an AI agent strays from its intended behavior. Harvey called that its fourth acquisition of 2026 and said its agents “now carry out multi-step legal work over hours and days,” which leaves little room for errors found only after the work is delivered. Guardrails co-founders Shreya Rajpal and Zayd Simjee joined Harvey’s product and engineering organization.

Harvey’s funding post said the raise followed the release of its first post-trained open-weight model and the launch of Harvey LAB, a benchmark for legal agents. The company sells to law firms, in-house legal departments and professional services firms.

Harvey’s site lists upcoming offices in Tokyo and Boston. The company hasn’t said when Aida’s technology will show up in its products.
